In summary: Red Edge uses personal information to provide and secure its installation-management service, coordinate work, document installations and support users. We do not sell personal information.
About this policy
Red Edge Oceania Pty Ltd, trading as Red Edge Resources ("Red Edge", "we", "us" or "our"), provides the Red Edge installation management application and associated administration portal (together, the "Service").
This policy applies to personal information handled through the Service. It should be read together with any privacy notice provided by the organisation that invited you to use the Service. Where a customer organisation manages your account or work, that organisation may also have its own privacy obligations and policies.
Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Service and may include:
- Account and contact information: name, email address, telephone number, password in hashed form, role, account status, company or client account, and approval information.
- Job and installation information: job numbers, job titles and descriptions, customer or company details, site names and addresses, system or machine types, schedules, assigned personnel, checklist responses, notes, progress and completion records.
- Photos and attachments: photographs and other files uploaded for installation verification, including annotations, filenames, capture dates and related job or checklist details.
- Location information: with device permission, precise latitude and longitude may be collected when a verification photo is captured. An approximate street address may be derived from that location and associated with the photo. Photos selected from the device library are not assigned a newly captured GPS location by the app.
- Device, app and usage information: device and app identifiers, push-notification tokens, operating system information, diagnostic events, interaction and analytics data, IP address, request timestamps and security logs.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us for support, make an enquiry or otherwise communicate with Red Edge.
We collect information directly from you, from administrators or customer organisations that create and manage accounts and jobs, automatically when the Service is used, and from service providers that support the Service.
The app may request access to your camera, photo library, location and notifications. You can control these permissions through your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.
How we use information
We use personal information where reasonably necessary to:
- create, approve, authenticate and administer user accounts;
- assign, schedule, carry out, review and document installation jobs;
- upload and display job photos, attachments, notes and completion evidence;
- provide push notifications and important account or job updates;
- support offline operation, synchronisation and restoration of user sessions;
- provide technical support and respond to enquiries;
- monitor performance, diagnose faults and improve the safety, reliability and usability of the Service;
- prevent fraud, misuse, unauthorised access and other security incidents;
- comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements; and
- carry out other purposes you authorise or that are notified at the time of collection.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, we process information to provide contracted services, pursue legitimate operational and security interests, comply with law, and where required, with consent.
How we share information
We may disclose information to:
- Your organisation and authorised users: administrators, assigned installers and other authorised personnel may access account and job information according to their role.
- Customers and project participants: relevant job records, reports, photos or completion evidence may be shared where needed to deliver and document the work.
- Service providers: providers supporting cloud hosting and databases, file and image storage, mapping and geocoding, email or notifications, analytics, security and technical operations. Current technology integrations may include Google Maps services, Google Firebase and ImageKit.
- Professional advisers and authorities: where reasonably necessary to obtain advice, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or comply with a lawful request.
- Business transaction parties: in connection with a proposed or completed merger, financing, reorganisation, sale or transfer, subject to appropriate protections.
Some providers may process information outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate contractual or other safeguards, subject to applicable law. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Cookies and local storage
The public Privacy Policy page does not use advertising cookies. Our hosting and security providers may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to deliver and protect the website.
The administration portal may use browser local storage to maintain an authenticated session and remember essential application state. The mobile app uses secure device storage and local databases to retain authentication information, job data and pending work needed for offline use and synchronisation. You can clear website data through your browser and app data through your device settings, although doing so may sign you out or remove unsynchronised local data.
Data storage and security
Information may be stored on your device and on systems operated for us by cloud, database, image-storage and other service providers. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, role-based permissions, encrypted network connections, secure credential storage and password hashing.
No system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials, using an appropriately secured device and promptly notifying us if you suspect unauthorised access. Please avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information in job notes, photographs or attachments.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain installation and business records, meet contractual and legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and protect the Service. Retention periods vary according to the type of information, the customer relationship, legal requirements and operational need.
When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, de-identify or securely dispose of it. Residual copies may remain for a limited period in backups, security logs or systems where immediate deletion is not technically practicable.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or make a privacy complaint. You may also:
- update certain account details through an authorised administrator;
- turn camera, photo, location or notification permissions on or off in device settings;
- sign out and remove locally stored app data through your device settings; and
- contact your employer or customer organisation where it controls your account or job records.
Account and data deletion requests
To request deletion of your account and associated personal information, use the public Red Edge account deletion form. Enter your account email and password so we can verify your identity; the password is not stored with the request. The request is sent to an authorised administrator for review. You may also email [email protected] or call 1300 769 359 for assistance.
Authorised administrators can deactivate or permanently delete eligible accounts through protected administration tools. Deactivation blocks sign-in but retains the account and job history. Permanent account deletion removes the user account and unassigns it from current jobs; job records, photographs, reports or other business records associated with completed work may still be retained where reasonably required for contractual, legal, security or recordkeeping purposes. A request to delete associated information will be assessed under applicable law and these obligations.
We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting on a request. Certain information may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate recordkeeping, security or dispute-resolution purposes.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or another privacy regulator with jurisdiction over your concern.
Children's privacy
The Service is a business installation-management tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Service. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, our practices or applicable law. The current version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date. Where a change is material, we may also provide notice in the app, through the administration portal or by another appropriate method.
